Make Pita Chips Using Ready Made Pitas

A versatile chip, dip crunchy pita chips into anything from hummus to guacamole or cheese dips. While available at your local grocer, these chips are just as easy to make at home using ready made pitas. And when homemade, you get to choose the ingredients. Dress them up with a variety of spices that fit your tastes or leave them plain, if you prefer. It's up to you.

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Cut each pita into eight wedges with a sharp knife. Start by cutting the pitas in half and then keep cutting each piece into halves starting from the middle and cutting backwards until you have eight pieces.

3. Pour olive oil, garlic cloves and any spices you prefer --- such as salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, oregano or rosemary --- into a bowl. Whisk the mixture together until completely combined.

4. Brush the olive oil mixture onto each wedge with a pastry brush.

5. Place the pita chips on a baking sheet in an even layer; the chips should not overlap. Put in the oven.

6. Bake the pita chips for about 20 minutes, watching closely. Remove from the oven before they start to burn. Cool before serving.
