Open A Bottle Without A Cork Screw

A screwdriver, screw and pliers are all you need to open a wine bottle.

It's happened to every wine lover at one time or another: You bring a bottle of wine to a friend's house, on a picnic or to a potluck event, and there is no corkscrew available. Corks are firmly inserted into the neck of a wine bottle and are difficult to remove without some kind of tool. Before you opt to open the bottle by breaking off the neck, take a look around for some alternative tools: it is possible to open a bottle without a corkscrew.

Instructions

1. Insert the screw into the cork. The screw should be directly in the center of the cork, and you can use the screwdriver to twist the screw all the way into the cork.

2. Grip the head of the screw with the pliers. It will be easier to pull on the screw if you are holding the pliers vertically.

3. Pull the screw up with a slight twisting motion, taking the cork with it. Twist the bottle in the opposite direction that you are twisting the cork, to help it slide out more easily.
