There is perhaps nothing more appealing when camping than hot food. Late at night around the campfire, snack time is the greatest time of all. While s'mores and marshmallows are the old-school snack champs of camping, a far less sticky alternative is campfire popcorn. The following recipe will teach you make single-serving packets of . Prepare Your Campfire Popcorn Cooking Packet
1. From a roll of heavy-duty cooking foil, tear off an approximately 18"-long piece of foil and place it on your camp table. Carefully pour 2 tsp. of vegetable oil into the center of the foil, then add the 4 tsp. of popcorn.
2. Multiple packs can be prepared at one time. For each packet, slowly bring the two longest opposite ends of the foil together above the popcorn and fold them over and down three times (like you’re folding down the top of a brown paper lunch bag) to seal well. Bring the remaining two ends of the foil corners up toward the center to complete the foil tent. Roll all the edges together to seal the popcorn and cooking oil inside. (There should be enough space left inside for the popcorn to pop.)
3. Transfer prepared campfire popcorn packets to the campfire area.

4. Poke the ends of a campfire fork through the thick folds of foil at the top of a pack of campfire popcorn.
5. With the top of the pack secured on the campfire fork, set the pack into the hot coals of the campfire until the cooking oil begins to sizzle and you hear a kernel pop.
6. Once you hear that first pop, gently raise up the fork with the campfire popcorn attached above the coals and shake the packet in a continuous, back-and-forth motion until popping slows. Never leave the popcorn packet directly in the fire.
7. Let cool. Carefully open the pack. Add salt, shakable butter or other brought-along spices to taste, and enjoy.
