Make Chicken Penne Alfredo Recipe

Red bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and olives may be added to the sauce.

Chicken Penne Alfredo comes from the sauce recipe believed to have been created in Rome by Alfredo di Lelio in 1914. He was concerned because his pregnant wife lost her appetite and hadn't eaten for days. Fearing for the health of his wife and unborn child, di Lelio concocted a pasta dish that included generous amounts of butter, cream and Parmesan cheese -- and his wife loved it. Many delicious meals have since been created using the tasty sauce, including Chicken Penne Alfredo.

Instructions

1. Cook a box of penne pasta according to the directions on the label.

2. Prepare the Alfredo sauce while the pasta is cooking. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, heavy cream and cream cheese. Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Simmer on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove.

3. Put the chicken pieces in a medium frying pan covered with olive oil. Saute until the chicken is cooked through.

4. Stir in the Alfredo sauce with the cooked chicken.

5. Drain the pasta and combine it with the Alfredo sauce and chicken.

6. Season to taste and serve.
