Pop Popcorn In A Microwave

Pop Popcorn in a Microwave

Popcorn is a light snack that you can enjoy any time of the day. It is usually consumed while you watch a movie, but you can also eat popcorn as a midday snack. Microwave popcorn generally comes prebuttered so you don't have to add your own. It comes in different flavors such as light and extra butter, and there are also low-fat versions of microwave popcorn. Microwave popcorn works by heating the oil contained within the bag, in turn heating the kernels to make them pop into popcorn.

Instructions

1. Remove the cellophane wrapping from a bag of popcorn. Unfold the bag and read the instructions about the ideal time for popping popcorn. Usually it's about 2 minutes and 10 seconds, give or take a few. Open the microwave and place the bag with the side that says "up" facing up.

2. Close the door and press the time on your microwave. The popcorn should start to pop after about a minute. Listen closely as the time counts down. The popcorn will start to slow down. Once you don't hear very many pops, stop the microwave. The popcorn will be hot, so set it aside for a few moments.

3. Open the bag away from your face. The steam from the popcorn is very hot. Pour the popcorn into a bowl, and add salt if you wish.
