Make Easy Cheesy Bread Sticks

Bread Sticks are easy to make.

This recipe is easy and the cheese means they are a great snack alone and even better with soups or salads.

Instructions

1. Butter several cookie pans. In a small bowl, blend together the hot milk, butter, sugar, and salt. Cool for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, soften the yeast in the warm water.

2. When the yeast is softened and the milk mixture is lukewarm, stir the yeast mixture into the milk mixture. Beat in flour until the dough is firm enough to handle.

3. Turn dough out onto a floured board and knead until it is smooth and pushes against your hand as you knead. Put in an oiled bowl. Cover and put in a warm place to rise.

4. Heat oven to 300 degrees. When dough has doubled in bulk, remove to a lightly floured board and roll out into a rectangle no more than 1/2 thick. Cut the dough into slices 1/2 inch wide and about 4 to 5 inches long. Place sticks on the buttered pans leaving about 1 inch between them. Cover and return to warm place to rise for 15 minutes.

5. Ad sticks rise for the last time, prepare your egg and water glaze. Brush the sticks with the glaze and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes, until they JUST start to brown.

6. Remove sticks from oven. Brush quickly with a more glaze and roll them in the grated Parmesan. Return to oven and bake for the additional 5 minutes. They should be slightly browned. Cool on racks. Enjoy!
