Send a gift of wine from Napa to family and friends.
A visit to Napa wineries is not complete without sending a bottle of wine home or to friends and family. The United States Postal Service will not ship wine or any alcoholic beverages from Napa or any other location. There are shippers, however, who will ship your wine bottle. Since wine bottles are so fragile, it is important to properly package the cargo to not only protect it, but to protect any other packages that are near it during shipping. There are several materials you will need to ensure your bottle arrives at your destination in one piece.
Instructions
1. Wrap the bottle of wine in several pieces of bubble wrap.
The more bubble wrap that surrounds the bottle, the less chance you have of the bottle breaking. As an alternative to bubble wrap, set the wine in a Styrofoam insert specifically designed for wine bottles. These inserts are available online and at some wineries.
2. Secure the , if used, with tape.
3. Fill a box with newspaper or packing peanuts and lay the bottle in the box. Surround all sides of the bottle with the stuffing.
4. Tape the box up securely and make sure the box doesn't suggest that you are shipping wine.
UPS and FedEx will ship the box without question as long as the attendant has no reason to think it is wine.
5. Write "Fragile" in red on the box in several places for extra security.
6. Ship the box as normal at a UPS or FedEx location in or near Napa, CA.
