Assemble A Cornelius Keg

If you're a beer purist, then you know that Cornelius kegs are amazing tools you can use to create premium ales and lagers in the comfort of your own home. While you can purchase a good quality apparatus in either new or used condition, some assembly is required. Here are the steps to assemble a Cornelius keg, so you can let the brewing begin.

Instructions

1. Gather all of the keg's parts. This includes the tank, liquid dip tube, gas dip tube, lid, gas plug, liquid plug, two poppet valves and five o-rings.

2. Make the parts clean and sanitary by soaking them overnight in Powdered Brewery Wash or something similar. Old soda residue tends to be found in used kegs, so scrub and rinse all the parts after soaking. Remove all o-rings except the plug o-rings during the cleaning and sanitizing process.

3. Place the corresponding o-ring onto the long liquid dip tube and stick the tube into the Cornelius keg via the "out" port.

4. Put the corresponding o-ring onto the gas dip tube and place the tube inside the "in" port.

5. Situate the o-rings onto the plugs and put the poppet valves into the plugs, both gas and liquid.

6. Form a seal with your socket wrench by screwing the poppet valves' plugs onto the tank on top of the dip tubes.

7. Install the big o-ring onto the lid and be sure you screw in the pressure relief valve.

8. Secure the lid in the Cornelius keg and push down the attached bar.
