Do Handwriting With Icing On A Cake







Learning basic cake decorating techniques can help you make an ordinary cake into something special. Adding a personalized message to your cake is the easiest way to make it unique. Step-up your cake decorating by mastering the fundamental technique of writing with icing.


Instructions


1. Use the proper tip for writing with icing. Tips are categorized by numbers. The tips recommended for use when writing are 2, 4 or 7. They are plain tips that vary by size of diameter.








2. Hold a filled decorator bag with attached tip at a 45-degree angle. If you are right-handed, hold your hand at 3 o'clock. If you are left-handed, hold your hand at at 9 o'clock.


3. Trace a pattern into your cake with a toothpick or use a pattern press for writing common words. Phrases such as "Happy Birthday" are available in pre-formatted presses. Let the icing on the cake harden slightly. Use the press to put that pattern in the icing, then you can pipe icing over the pattern.


4. Practice your technique. If you practice writing with icing, the look of your cakes will dramatically improve.
