Pensotti boilers
Do you guys know anything about Pensotti boilers? I can get a deal on one to replace my old Peerless boiler which is noisy as hell. Is this generally quiet and serviced by most companies? Thanks for any comments. Saddle bronze, I am looking a pensotti boiler, also. Did you ever purchase this boiler ? Did you do the install yourself? First off, the Pensotti part is just the boiler, and anyone can work on them. They are not a bad boiler, but their is one sold under another name ( Biasi ), that is cheaper. BIASI B-10 Boiler System I have been told that this is the exact boiler as Pensotti and is cheaper to purchase with a good warranty. Secondly, What is the burner that comes with it? In our area most pensotti boilers came with Riello burners. I personally like them and have no problems with them, but if you don't have them sold in your area, you will find a lack of knowledgeable service techs and/or parts availibilty. The Boiler I was given a price quote on was the Pensotti Blueline, Model #'s BL-4R and BL-4RHE, To be honest I am unsure of the burner, some paper work I was given says, burners are either Riello or Carlin , He quoted 1,600, dollars for this boiler . I have 3 heat zones, and will add a indirect Water Heater for a 4th zone. /Tank price 860, dollars The Dealer is local to me and I noticed that another plumbing supply shop sells the pensotti line also. I thought the Solaia was the rebadged Biasi? Pensotti is the same block too? That's neat to know. Ditto the Riello. I've had a few pros refuse to service my Riello because they don't want to carry the parts. Pete I remember checking the Biasi and Pensotti boiler stats when I was looking for a new system, and they do not match. Water content, for example, is different for the boilers with the same number of sections. The boiler cut-away diagrams also seem to show a different three-pass layout. Anyway, I ended up going with Biasi, but the Pensotti was another choice. The Pensotti importer appears to be in Bangor, ME, and the Biasi one in Portsmouth, NH ... both local And it seems - although I'm no heating pro of course - that there are plenty of techs here in Southern ME who service Riello, so I assume it's similar in L/A. Two notes: I checked the Pensotti site, and it seems the model you're looking at is no longer current (not a problem I guess.) Also, I'd make sure I could run the boiler as the HE configuration (basically it's the same as the regular, but with a lower fire on the burner) since it's an extra 3% or so in efficiency. How were you able to determine the model quoted to me was no longer current? I went to the Pensotti site ,the paper work I was given seems to be just a copy of the site. When you say the 'model is not current' Is that like buying a new car that is 2008 vs 2009 both brand new but one a year older in model years? I liked the HE for the same reasons you pointed out. In what manner does the configuration change? Thanks nevermind - I went off their main page info, but when I clicked on products the blue line is still there. It's a current model. I believe the only thing that changes for the HE is that they reduce the firing rate for the burner (not sure how this works - I'm not an oil burner tech.) What I actually think is that the HE is the 'normal' configuration, and the non-HE is overfired to produce more output at lower efficiency. Nothing else should be different though.
