Fuel sending unit 2000 lesabre

Fuel Sending Unit 2000 Lesabre

I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre and need to change the fuel sending unit. Is their anybody that knows do this and if it is a difficult job for me to do by myself. If this is the fuel pump, I would say this is dangerous and should only be done by trained persons... Then other than that, I searched google.com for the words... 2000 Buick Lesabre fuel pump replacement And found this... WikiAnswers - How do you replace the fuel pump located on a 2000 Buick Century More... Google Note: The official troubleshooting and replacement instructions would be found in a factory service manual set of books - order from helminc.com or your dealer. This is the same information they would use at the dealer to troubleshoot and repair the vehicle. Very detailed. Many of these book sets are 4 large volumes and over 2000 pages total. They cost around $150 for the set, but you get what you pay for. you need to open your trunk, remove your spare tire, jack and spare tire cover, then rear compartment trim panel or carpet, then you will find an access cover right behind the rear seat back assembly, removed all access cover retaining screws and remove cover, you would need a special tool J-39765 or a screwdriver with a hammer would work just as well, to rotate and loosen the retaining collar from the fuel pump assembly, then remove the fuel pump assembly and fuel sending unit...... not very troublesome and sure saves having to drop the fuel tank, good luck and it should be a breeze. Thanks GMTECH1975. I actually think I might try to do this myself at a junkyard before trying it on my own car. Does this sound like a good idea to you? You would be better off buying a new pump from an auto parts store, it should be under $100, no telling how old and nasty the gas is in teh gas tank of a junkyard car and that might gum up the pump. Good thing it isn't a truck in which case you have to drop the tank. With apology to Squaker77 on his thread... I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre that has a malfunctioning Fuel Gauge - Reads FULL all the time until almost empty then it drops to Empty and lights the Low Fuel LED; When filled the Guage reads Empty until 2 or 3 gallons are used, where it repeats the FULL reading until Empty. Just wondering if the Fuel Sending Unit and the Fuel Guage were combined or separate? Would the same process be used to access/replace the Guage assembly as the Fuel Sending unit? Thanks, Greynold99 greynold99, Did you ever get an answer to this question. I have a 2000 LeSabre that is doing the same thing. Only NOW, when the engine is at operating temperature and you turn it off, all the guages fall to the left, the low fuel light comes on and the car will not start. Thanks, LKeith @LKeith i dont think your issue is on the same lines. yours sounds more of an electrical problem. first how do you get it to start after it wont?
