Make a Mechanical Pencil Gun
A mechanical pencil is strong enough to serve as both the barrel and the frame of a homemade gun. You can make a mechanical pencil BB gun from a few household supplies, without any experience in gunsmithing. Adult supervision is a must for minors making and firing the mechanical pencil gun, since the BB pellet being fired can cause damage to whatever it strikes.
Instructions
1. Hold the eraser end of the metal mechanical pencil in your left hand. Hold the needle-nosed pliers in your right hand.
2. Clamp the jaws of the needle-nosed pliers on the pocket clip that is on the side of the mechanical pencil. Pull the pocket clip off the side of the pencil with the jaws of the pliers. Dispose of the pocket clip in the trash.
3. Clamp the jaws of the needle-nosed pliers on the pointed end of the mechanical pencil. Pull the barrel off the pointed end of the pencil with the jaws of the needle-nosed pliers. Dispose of the barrel in the trash.
4. Hold the pointed end of the mechanical pencil in your left hand. Hold the needle-nosed pliers in your right hand.
5. Clamp the jaws of the needle-nosed pliers on the eraser end of the mechanical pencil. Pull the eraser off the eraser end of the pencil with the jaws of the pliers. Dispose of the eraser in the trash. Place the needle-nosed pliers aside.
6. Unscrew the pointed end of the metal mechanical pencil from the eraser end.
7. Pull the lead tube out of the eraser end of the mechanical pencil with your fingers. Dispose of the lead tube in the trash. Place the pointed end and the eraser end of the mechanical pencil aside for later.
8. Unscrew the barrel from the pointed end of the plastic disposable pen. Dispose of the barrel in the trash. Pull the plastic tube out of the pointed end of the pen. Place the plastic tube aside for later. Dispose of the rest of the pen in the trash.
9. Push an end of the rubber band through the hole of the pointed end of the mechanical pencil where the barrel was. Wrap the end of the rubber band around the pointed end of the mechanical pencil. Make a slipknot in the end of the rubber band.
10. Apply a drop of bonding glue to secure the end of the rubber band to the pointed end of the metal mechanical pencil. Let the bonding glue set for an hour.
11. Cut a notch in one end of the plastic tube with the blade of the utility knife. Place the end of the rubber band from inside of the pointed end of the metal mechanical pencil into the notch. Apply a drop of bonding glue over the notch. Let the bonding glue set for an hour.
12. Place the end of the plastic tube that has the rubber band attached to it inside of the pointed end of the metal mechanical pencil.
13. Apply bonding glue to the rim of the eraser end of the mechanical pencil that had been attached to the pointed end of the mechanical pencil.
14. Place the eraser end of the mechanical pencil onto the pointed end of the mechanical pencil. Let the bonding glue set for an hour.
15. Go outside in your backyard. Hold the mechanical pencil gun in one hand by the pointed end. Insert a BB pellet into the eraser end of the metal mechanical pencil with your other hand. Aim the mechanical pencil gun at a tree or rock.
16. Pull the plastic tube out of the pointed end of the mechanical pencil gun. Stop pulling when the plastic tube is almost free of the pointed end of the mechanical pencil gun. Release the plastic tube to fire the BB pellet from the mechanical pencil gun you have made.
Tips Warnings
Both the metal mechanical pencil and the plastic disposable pen should be from the same manufacturer.
Never point or shoot any kind of weapon that fires a projectile at a person or pet.
