Program A Uniden Bc895xlt Scanner For Edacs

The Uniden Bearcat line of scanners allows you to program in emergency frequencies that fall into the Enhanced Digital Access Communication System, or EDACS. The Uniden BC895XLT is one of these scanners that can be purchased and installed in your home or vehicle to help you stay up-to-date when it comes to emergency situations in your area. By saving EDACS frequencies in your community to your scanner, you will be alerted every time there is an emergency communication in your vicinity.

Instructions

1. Press the Manual button on the scanner to stop automatic scanning. The scanner will stop on the last frequency it was on. Use the number pad on the right side of the control panel to enter a channel number to use to save a frequency. The BC895XLT can save up to 300 channels. When you have selected your channel, press the Manual button again.

2. Locate a list of emergency frequencies in your area. This can be done by consulting the starter guide that came with the scanner or by searching the frequency database on RadioReference (see Resources). Write down the EDACS frequencies that you wish to save into your scanner's memory.

3. Use the number pad to enter in the first frequency you want to save. Press each button without holding it down and include the decimal point in the correct position or the frequency will not be picked up by the scanner. Check the display to ensure the frequency was entered correctly and press the E button to store it.

4. Repeat this process for each EDACS frequency you want to save. When finished, you can either press the Manual button followed by the channel number to listen to a frequency, or press the Scan button to search through your programmed frequencies.
