Set Up A Wireless Internet For A Dell Computer

Because all Dell computers ship running the Microsoft Windows operating system, if you want to set up a wireless Internet connection on your machine, you simply have to go through the built-in wireless networking tools in Windows. This involves specifying to your computer the exact wireless network that you're attempting to connect to, and then providing any network password (if one is required of you).

Instructions

1. Locate the Network and Sharing Center icon in the system tray of your Dell computer. This icon will be in the same general area as your desktop's digital clock.

2. Click once on the Network and Sharing Center system tray icon. This will expand a list above your system tray of all wireless Internet and wireless computer-to-computer networks that your Dell computer is within the broadcasting vicinity of.

3. Click the Refresh button. This will refresh the list of networks your computer found in Step 2. This will help make sure you've identified all of the networks you have the ability to connect to.

4. Click on the name of a network you'd like your Dell computer to connect to. This will bring up a gray Connect button next to its name. Click on the Connect button to connect your Dell computer to this network.

5. Enter in the password for the wireless network (if applicable). After a few seconds your Dell computer may realize that the wireless network requires a password to access. At that point, you will be prompted to enter the password in on screen. Do so, and then click Connect again.
