The Magellan Maestro is a GPS device designed for use in your car, and the included voice prompts, map page and written directions help guide you to your destination. The Maestro comes preloaded with maps of the United States and Canada, as well as 6 million points of interest (POI). POIs comprise a database of restaurants, hotels, gas stations, ATMs and other businesses, searchable by name, category or even subcategory. The Magellan Content Manager software allows you to load personalized content onto the Maestro, including your own points of interest.
Instructions
1. Connect the Magellan Maestro to your computer via the USB cord. Plug the larger end of the USB cord into the unit's USB port, and the other end into the computer.
2. Open Magellan Content Manager on your computer (see Resources for the download link if the program is not already installed on your computer).
3. Click Transfer Trips Plan from the tools menu or select the suitcase icon.
4. Click Import As POI to the points of interest database on your Magellan Maestro. Imported POIs will be treated like pre-installed points of interest on the Maestro unit.
5. Select the location on the Maestro to which you wish to upload the POI file. Click on the POI file stored on your computer.
6. Click Open and the POI file information will transfer.
7. Click OK, then Close, once the file transfer completes.
Tips Warnings
The Magellan Content Manager only works on PCs.
Files must be saved in KML or KMZ format in order to be transferred to the GPS device.
Do not disconnect your Magellan Maestro from your computer during a file transfer. According to the Magellan Content Manager manual, disconnecting before transfer completion can damage your files or the GPS unit's memory.
