White gloves are probably one of the hardest clothing items to keep clean. However, they are also pretty easy to wash once they get dirty. Of course, if you have white leather or white suede gloves then this cleaning method will not work for you because you should not get them wet. However, white lace, wool or any other material should work just fine in this case. You will need a little patience, but the results will be well worth it and your gloves will still fit perfectly once you are done.
Instructions
1. Mix up your washing solution. Fill up your sink with warm water and add about five drops of mild detergent and a fourth of a cup of bleach. This will cleanse the gloves and help remove any stains that you may have accumulated during wear. Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from the bleach.
2. Immerse the white gloves in the cleaning solution. Swirl them gently and squeeze them to work the solution through the cloth. However, do not wring them or twist them, as this may cause the gloves to become permanently misshapen.
3. Rinse the white gloves under warm running water. Do not use hot water, just warm. As before, you can squeeze the gloves to get the water through them and the bleach and soap out. Do not wring them or twist them at any point.
4. Squeeze the excess water out of the gloves gently. Get as much water out of the gloves as possible. If you notice any soap suds, then you need to go back and rinse the gloves again.
5. Put the gloves on. This will not be particularly comfortable because they will be damp. However, it will cause the gloves to conform to your hands rather than shrinking during the drying process.
6. Dry the gloves. You can let them air dry, or you can use a hair dryer to speed the process. You need to leave the gloves on your hands until they are barely damp.
7. Remove the gloves and let them finish drying on a clothes line. Pin them so that the fingers are hanging down. The gloves should dry spotless and in perfect shape to accommodate your hands.
