While the types of different Moen faucets are numerous, leaks or drips almost always occur at either one or two places: the faucet handle or the faucet spout. When you have a leak coming from a faucet spout or a faucet handle, the problem is usually a worn or broken washer. However, Moen faucets are designed with cartridges, and it is these you replace and not washers per se. Whichever Moen faucet model you have, you need only a few tools, a few minutes and a little patience to replace Moen faucet cartridges.
Instructions
1. Identify the type of Moen faucet model you own by looking on the original packaging. Go to Moen's website, if you're not sure which Moen faucet model you have.
2. Click on the Replacement Parts link to either bathroom faucets or kitchen and bar faucets. Answer the series of questions Moen asks you to help identify which Moen faucet model you own.
3. Use the pictures of Moen faucets to decide which faucet you own. Click on the name of the faucet.
4. Click on the link that says Open the Illustrated Parts Diagram. Locate the part number next to the replacement cartridge and write it down.
5. Enter the part number into space provided by Moen and how many you need. Order the part (free of charge if your faucet is still under warranty).
6. Turn off both water valves, hot and cold, once the replacement cartridge arrives to you. Return to Moen's website.
7. Use the search function on Moen's site to find your Moen faucet. Click on the Instruction Sheets/Owners Manual link for your Moen faucet model.
8. Follow the instructional diagrams for replacing the cartridge. Call Moen for any assistance you may need during the replacement.
Tips Warnings
Wear safety glasses because you may have to wedge and pop out pieces of material; the glasses will protect your eyes from chipped or flying material.
