how-do-you-remove-a-pegasus-faucet

Changing out a Pegasus kitchen faucet is a breeze for the experienced do-it-yourselfer.

Updating your kitchen with a new Pegasus kitchen sink faucet will require the unpleasant task of removing the old Pegasus kitchen sink faucet. The removal process is not difficult, just uncomfortable. Having to lie under the kitchen sink counter can be painful for some people. You may want to place a blanket or pillow under your lower back. If you have back trouble, place a book and pillow under your rear to keep your back aligned.

Instructions

1. Turn the water supplies off under the sink. Follow the hot-and cold-water lines down from the Pegasus faucet to the small shut-off valves. Turn the small valve handles clockwise until they stop. Make sure the water is off by opening the faucet.

2. Unscrew the faucet supply lines from the faucet with a basin wrench. Reach up under the faucet, grab the supply nuts with the basin wrench, and turn the nuts counterclockwise until you can remove them by hand. Some water will leak out.

3. Reach up under the faucet again with the basin wrench, and then unscrew the Pegasus faucet-mounting nuts by turning them counter clockwise as well.

4. Disconnect the faucet side sprayer (if you have one) from the hose above the sink. Unscrew the sprayer’s mounting nut and pull out the sprayer guide.

5. Lift the faucet out of the sink; clean the old putty or sealant off the sink surface and openings.

Tips Warnings

Most Pegasus faucets are recyclable.

Check to make sure the waters shut off completely before you remove the supply lines.
